Maria brings with her experience and knowledge gained from having served as a high school English and ELD teacher; Bilingual Resource Specialist; high school assistant principal over counseling, special education, student records, and the student information system; Director of Student Services; Consultant II and Project Director III in the Child Welfare and Attendance Unit, Division of Student Support Services, Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE); and Acting Director III in the Division of Student Programs, LACOE. Maria continues to be actively involved in several statewide organizations, including the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) and the California Association of Supervisors of Child Welfare and Attendance (CASCWA). Through her involvement with different professional organizations and her work at LACOE, she has conducted hundreds of presentations throughout the state, and has prepared publications that help guide the work of school and district personnel, including the Annual Notification Bulletin on the Rights of Parents and Guardians. In 2018, Maria became the fourth editor in the long tradition of "California Laws Relating to Minors". Maria was recognized as ACSA's Pupil Personnel Administrator of the Year in 2012 and was presented with CASCWA's Lee Lundberg Outstanding Service Award in 2016.
Jennifer brings with her experience and knowledge gained from having served as a high school social studies teacher; high school assistant principal over counseling, curriculum and assessment; interim principal; and Consultant II in the Child Welfare and Attendance Unit, Division of Student Support Services, Los Angeles County Office of Education. Throughout her career, Jennifer has written and successfully implemented several programs that address the needs of at-risk students. She was instrumental in creating the statewide School Attendance Review Board (SARB) training curriculum, and provides a comprehensive certification training for supervisors of attendance through several county offices of education in California. Jennifer has made a huge impact at the local, state and international level as it relates to school attendance. Through her collaboration and strong ties with the Departments of Children and Family Services, Mental Health and Probation, and the District Attorney's Office, she has provided school districts with the resources they need to remove barriers and improve school attendance. Jennifer has also contributed to former Attorney General Kamala Harris' report, In School + On Track: California's Elementary School Truancy & Absenteeism Crisis. In 2015, Jennifer was recognized as the Pupil Personnel Administrator of the Year for ACSA Region 14 and was presented with CASCWA's Lee Lundberg Outstanding Service Award in 2025. She continues to be actively involved in State SARB, the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA), and the California Association of Supervisors of Child Welfare and Attendance (CASCWA).
